NATO has approved Finland’s proposal to host a Deployable CIS Module (DCM) in #Riihimäki
But what does that actually mean?
In simple terms, the DCM is a mobile communications and command infrastructure used by NATO forces during operations, exercises, and crisis situations. It provides the systems that allow commanders and units to communicate, coordinate, and share information securely across the battlefield 🛰️📡
The unit operates under NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency), which is responsible for many of NATO’s digital and operational technology systems.
For Finland, this is a significant step 🛡️
For Riihimäen kaupunki – City of Riihimäki, it means:
• Around 60 highly specialised technology and defence jobs 👨💻🧑🔬
• A stronger role in NATO’s operational infrastructure 🪖
• Increased presence of international defence expertise 🌍
But the impact goes beyond jobs.
For companies working in areas such as:
#artificial #intelligence 🤖
secure communications 📡
cyber defence 🔐
robotics and autonomy 🦾
sensors and battlefield data systems 📊
this creates a closer connection between NATO operational capabilities and the Finnish innovation ecosystem.
